A Year-Round Village in the Heart of Lapland

Fjeld Ylläs is a new arctic village taking shape beside Finland’s most visited national park, designed to grow naturally from its natural surroundings. The plan brings together hospitality, nature, and daily life in a setting shaped by the rhythm of the landscape.

At the core of the village is a creek that connects the entire area. In winter, it forms a ski-in route with direct access to hotels, restaurants, and services. In summer, it becomes a shared path for walking and biking, guiding movement through public spaces and sheltered courtyards.

The structure is walkable and human-scaled. Key services and communal spaces are placed along intuitive routes, encouraging exploration while supporting both residents and international visitors. Buildings follow the topography to minimize excavation and preserve the existing vegetation.

Fjeld Ylläs is a place grounded in local materials, climate, and culture — where nature frames the experience and architecture remains in quiet dialogue with the land.
