We’re happy to share that our work with City of Helsinki will continue as we now design a small hut for bird viewing (piilokoju) and an open platform for bird viewing (lintujenkatselulava) near our previously built Nattours boardwalk on Lammasaari. During our recent site visit (a few photos from which are shared here), we learned that there is an eagle nest with three baby eagles only 300m away, a rare occurrence so close to the city center! These new viewing areas will allow for both avid and amateur birdwatchers alike to hopefully see these eagles and more in the near future in an accessible and inclusive way for all.
For those unfamiliar with the earlier Nattours accessible recreational path we finished in late 2018, you can see photos and read more on the project here.
These huts are a part of a larger tourism plan we designed for the area, recently making their grand debut in Puumala-lehti.
Sharing changes we have made as an office and our thoughts on what happens next.
