Studio Puisto is designing a new, inhabitant-oriented area in Valkeakoski. The area will have a variation of different apartments to offer versatility and flexibility. Most of the apartments can be divided into smaller homes or combined with other apartments to create larger homes to cater for the changing situations in life.

The proposal strives to make it easy to live in the area by offering different services at the disposal of the inhabitants, from rentable common spaces to common garden areas taken care of by gardeners. There is a variation of services linked to the housing as well, catering for different age groups. The extensive services will create comfortable, easy living solutions where best parts of both living in an apartment building and in a detached house meet.

The buildings have been placed to block the most important winds, sheltering the courtyard. The placement of the buildings also enables the utilization of solar energy. In addition to solar power the buildings will be heated with geothermal heat. Rainwater will be collected in a stream intersecting the garden area and can be used for watering the gardens.
